The “Ten Commandments” were for the Israelites. And besides there were over 600 commandments on each tablet of stone. One was a duplicate of the other. One of them was kept in the Ark of the Covenant. Jesus revised the one about taking the Lord’s name in vain which the swearing of a oath and using God as a witness to that oath. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, “Don’t swear by anything at all.”
