When I was a kid… we lived in a shack. Out in the middle of No Where! Rent was cheap… so that was a the draw. But the walls had little to the idea of insulation. My mother would stuff the walls with old newspapers… between stud boards. Then she would get whole sheets of newspaper and make smooth walls. Little bit of paint and you couldn’t tell the difference.
Well… sort of… last I heard… for some reason… the place burnt down like a match stick. I wonder what fueled it. ;)

We have a room like that now – with a mat to wipe feet on going OUT. It’s where the cats’ litter box lives.

Cosmo, you must know my former D. P. In the ten years I lived with her, I think she vacuumed the house only once!

If you ever lived on a farm, you know what the floor of a chicken coop was like and I assume that Cosmo lived in something similar! ;o{
