Monograms – the wealthier version of name tags.

Reminds me of my USAF Basic Training days!! We had to “label” all our underwear with your initials and the “last four of your social security number!” The Air Force even provided you with a “stamp!” Pity the fool that “labeled” theirs upside down! The TI’s were NOT amused!! Ah, the “good ’ol days!!”

Obviously they are blood relatives.

I went thru AIR FORCE basic trng at Lackland AFB in 1964. No labeling underwear then and everyone had 8 digit AF service numbers. Switched over to using SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS in in 1969.

The problem with this comic is that there are plenty of people with the same initials.

Such was popular during some of the seventies. Everything had initials or name. While some folks were helped shoes, wet socks, etc were yet found hanging from high utility lines, including after power losses. Shoes, socks, pants, shirts, coats, (winter) caps, etc were found on roads, roadsides, parks, at water (mud) holes, along running and jogging routes, etc.

Not a problem for me or Brutus. If it isn’t permanent press, we ain’t buying it……

Well, at least one Thornapple is thinking. Wonder what the initial P stands for.

And I thought it was so he could tell it was his shirt.

I thought his response was going to be that it came that way or stood for a brand name…

‘T’ for Ted, not ‘E’ for Edward. Interesting.
