Etaoin shrdlu is how the letters were ordered on a linotype machine, used to set type before it was digitized. Imagine typing on a typewriter, only instead of a ribbon and paper, the machine is filled with molten lead and is casting letters as you type. Wacky.
Look for a documentary called “Etaoin shrdlu” and also on youtube “Farewell Etaoin shrdlu.”
Wow. Thanks, gozar! No telling how many people I’ve misinformed, like Lucy did to poor Linus. I still like my explanation… easier to identify for most people.. but your true one is much cooler. I’ll go look for the documentaries. Again, thanks. Another bit of trivia to add to my huge store.

Anyone else here remember the source of the “Hoo hah” in the third panel being Mad magazine? Always like to see references to such a seminal comic.

The internet says that frozen yogurt isn’t much better than ice cream for lactose intolerants. You need live culture yogurt.
