Which reminds me… I never felt homesick until I was an adult. I had flown to CA to stay at my aunt’s home. While there I felt a kind of saftey/ calmness I hadn’t felt before. Didn’t know it existed (my family growing up was chaotic).
After a week, I flew back to Chicago and took a bus ride home to WI. I cried the whole bus ride (1 1/2 hrs or so) home. I had never felt so homesick!
The sweetness of the memory/ love is with me still.

Poor Colin. He is homesick for camp.

I get the feeling that any place Mom wasn’t hovering over him, would do.

I liked camp, staying with my aunt and uncle, going to school – anything to get out of the house.
