I’ve never judged the “goodness” of my pets by their ability to do tricks. Which is good, since they are cats. Oh, cats can do tricks, amazing tricks. The problem is that they get bored after doing them twice. There are exceptions. I had one cat, Vivekat, who would greet me from the roof when I got home. I would hold a cardboard box up, she would jump on it, and ride it down like an elevator. The difference is perspective: she had taught me to do a really useful trick.

It appears she almost has to jump through hoops, to get some attention.
