As I recall about five years before calculators, we learned how to find square roots longhand.
? Do they still use Slide Rules ? !
You know, if the fifty years since school, I’ve never once been asked to find the square root of anything…
For most people, that’s true. The real, secret, reason for teaching math in school to to get people to learn HOW to solve problems. Some people never get it. They become politicians.
He’s speaking “Mathematics”, a language that is universally incomprehensible among schoolchildren.
