    My local bookstore does that. Random (presumably poorly selling) books bought sight unseen in a brown paper bag.

    As with all such things, some are great and some are appallingly bad, much like life.

    At all (okay, both) primary schools I attended, ordinary lost & found was held for 6 months, then got sold off in a silent auction. Valuable lost & found were typically held until for a year, though those rarely went unclaimed. Parents were good on following up when their child’s valuable things went missing.college it’s held for a full semester at least then goes into the auction pool. Guess the most common lost & found item…
