The closure of schools is one of the greatest casualties of the pandemic. Our kids on zoom are yearning to get back to school and their parents want it even more. Praying leaders make wise and right decisions…
Everyone needs a break. Call it a mental health day. Turn off the computers and go play in the snow or sand or creek; whatever. Watch your social distancing and have a brain blowout. Don’t forget the s’mores.
I, nore my kids, got in on the "snow day’ thing, The busses ran & we went to school. Didn’t matter if it was 100 above or a 100 below. Lack of communication methods to contact EVERYONE.
Send the teacher an email from your phone saying the power is out and let the kids play. Even if they had in-person school, you could let them stay home and just write them a note. I fail to see how the internet makes that different.
I grew up in a region of long winters and deep, mountain snows. In 12 years of schooling, not once was school canceled due to weather. A “snow day” was just a day when it snowed. Kids who lived out of town, and couldn’t get in to school, were given an excused absence.

Then the kids would have absolutely nothing to do

Guess all the kids would get behind the rest of their peers throughout the country.

Has anyone here not heard the line already, “I’m worried about the next generation, home-schooled by depressed alcoholics.”?

I went to school in Montana. Lots of snow on lots of days, but no snow days. I feel cheated in so many ways.

I’m surprised the neighborhood kids haven’t considered that. But then that would knock out the cool stuff too.

Have you listened to the folks that are running the country now? I pray they will wizen up but it only happens in God’s time, not ours!
