Phone solicitors don’t need support, they need therapy. Or generous time off, or a $15 minimum wage. Or all of the above.

A friend ran a telemarketing business, I owned a telephone answering service. The do not call list was hand delivered to his desk. We had several hundred sequential inbound numbers that customers forwarded to, so that meant double the calls

They would like you to think there is an actual fireman or policeman on the phone but those things are all “out-sourced”.

A few years ago I made the mistake of giving to my Sheriff’s Fund. Why a mistake? It turns out that the Sheriff’s Association was using the Donor’s list to mail solicitations for business for the local State Farm Insurance Agent. I repeat: THE SHERIFF’S ASSOCIATION was doing the work for the INSURANCE AGENT and abusing their Donors!!! It wasn’t even one of those groups that call and scoop off 95% of donations into their own pockets (which is legal).

That’s fitting since the people that call for donations to the fraternal order of police and firefighters are actually phone solicitors.

My response to every single one of these calls: I’m sorry, I don’t contribute to telephone solicitations. Then, I hang up.
