For years I saw many of our contractors hold on to lucrative employment contracts while equally talented and experienced employees were down-sized.
Many of these same employees later became contractors for us, because we removed them, but not the responsibilities. Later, I tried to get many of these people back into employment, thinking it was job security and paid benefits.
One of my guys who became a contractor told me he was earning double what I paid him, and that included the fact he paid for his own insurance, and time off.
Out latest consolidation and being acquired may change that. The first assignment leadership was given was to add jobs where needed, but remove all contractors. The move, including expansion (adding 10% to the workforce) is expected to return $1M USD before the end of 2021.
