BPM, you are correct – this is the last Academia Waltz strip, published shortly before Berke’s graduation from UT (and ensuing ineligibility to publish a cartoon in their student newspaper).
It also implies Steve Dallas’s lack of intent to return to UT following his honeymoon; indeed, he will next be seen in Bloom County, albeit as a bachelor.

The Kennedy assination was in Dallas, not Austin.

Steve Dallas seems to be the only consistent character in all of Breathed’s strips.
