Not the best advice from a parent. I tried to tell my son if you “owe” anyone you have no money. If you have no bills then you can do whatever you want with your money. My late wife had what we joked was a gambling problem, she liked scratch off tickets. But all of our bills were paid and she worked so hard for so long it wasn’t up to me and it was her only “vice”. I miss seeing her getting excited if she just broke even.
