I have a friend who retrieved unsold Easter candy from a dumpster where he worked. The candy was still in fully wrapped boxes.

Well if it was jelly beans, I found in what thought was an empty store bag, a bag of them. It was close to a year after I purchased them, (half-price after Easter). So I checked the expiration date, they were still good for ANOTHER year.

Food bank will take food past the sell by date, as long as it isn’t too long

Their driver told me the rule of thumb is that if I would still eat it, they will take it

Berl, that’s the manufacturing date, not the expiration!

But he is right. So much perfectly good food is thrown away each day and no one can have it.
