A noble idea that that didn’t work. The backwards tribes in Afganistan have been killing each other for centuries. It’s similar to the “tribes” in inner cities. Nobody has figured out a way to civilize them.
Republicans went into Afghanistan as a backdoor to going into Iraq to take down Hussein. No plan and extreme arrogance. Going into Iran, the Bush2 administration abandoned any progress they may have made of any type in Afghanistan. They made things even worse with their war crimes.
