We were watching a reality contest show last night, and when a contestant completed a task, the TV would “Bing!”. Every time, the chihuahua (also the baby, at 1 year old…) would start barking and take off towards the door, getting the other 2 dogs riled up in the process. The only thing that would get them to stop was if one of us went to the door and opened it to prove no one was there.
My Sophie does that, too. She can hear her boyfriends (aka FedEx and UPS guys) close to half a mile away, then runs the fenceline until they’re out of our little valley.
Pretty much the way it goes at our house. The little one starts barking and the big one, with a much deeper bark, starts in even though he has no clue why they are barking.

Could be Schrodinger’s mailman! Who can tell? It’s just the tip of the Heisen berg!

Sophie isn’t much of a security system, she’s more like a motion detector alarm

A good preemptive bark is a “sound” strategy, but a poor tactic.

What happened to Annie? She’s no longer around for any activity, naps, food, patrol……

Just like my pup. Sound the alarm and leave the rest to Smith & Wesson
