My brother’s mother-in-law in India was so happy to hear on a Tuesday that her granddaughter was born because Tuesday is considered an auspicious day to be born. Only thing is, it was Monday in Texas where her granddaughter was born.

Please, don’t ask me why Tuesday is considered a lucky day to be born in India. I have no idea.

I love how, in fiction, someone might say “How long will you be gone?” while their husband is already just about out the door!

Ah, the International Date Line. On one deployment, the ship’s captain was joking around with our “chopsticks” team (firefighters to prevent fire around nuclear weapons). One sailor said, “That’s right, sir, but what can you do, take away my birthday?” That evening, the captain announced on the ship’s PA system (aka 1MC) that we’d be crossing the dateline a couple of days earlier than originally planned. Yep. That took away that sailor’s birthday!

I guess that’s because they don’t have “Doonesbury”.

Story in the Gold Key/TWILIGHT ZONE comics in the 1960’s.A fortune teller predicts the date of the man’s death. He decides to charter a plane and flydirectly on the international dateline to “lose that day”.But he insists on taking the pilot’sseat to check their course and puts himself on the side of the plane where it’s still“Doomsday”.The plane catches fire while refueling in midair, and he dies.
