I feel bad for him.(ouch!)

She has faults - he has faults. That’s the way of it.

John should not bring that subject up to ask Elly about remarrying another man whenever John would be drop dead. They should remain in their marriage till death them apart, for sickness and healthy, and cherish and love eternally.

Someone should tell that to Lynn’s ex-husband who left her for a younger woman.

Why does he assume he’ll pass away first? Maybe she will.

Considering it was Elly who was so bothered by the prospect earlier in the week, maybe it would have been funnier if this was written the other way around?

This particular question isn’t helpful, but the rest of it (insurance, planning, etc.) is. The sudden loss of a spouse is devastating.
