We turned my son’s bedroom into an office but when the daughter moved out, we turned that into a guest room. It took a few years before we actually had the house to ourselves for a full month. But I guess it does help with that empty nest syndrome I hear about.
Returned home for my first break from college. Opened my bedroom door to a blast of cold air, mom said “Oh, I forgot to mention that we’re using your room for cold storage now, you can sleep on the couch”.

Get rid of all the beds and fill up the spaces. Also a good idea when kids move out.

I don’t mind not having a guest room. I’ve slept on the sofa many times while visiting others!!!

You don’t have guests staying with you unless you invite them. Just don’t invite them.
