The current theory is that a short nap “reboots” the brain and allows for some data compaction, an essential part of learning. A longer nap is more like a “cold boot”, from which is takes longer to recover and leaves you feeling sleepy for a while.
I can’t nap in the daytime, so I nap all night long. Even the dreams Spielberg would be proud to have produced only last 20 minutes, with a ten minute time slot for commercial breaks in between…

Keep napping, Pop. Older people need sleep when they can get it. They usually don’t sleep too well at night.

Power naps are great. I set the alwrm and generally wake before it goes off.

On my nights off I wake up and hour early and take a 2 hour nap after my wife goes to bed
I never set an alarm, but my nap is usually within 15 minutes of 2 hours one way or the other

Ooh, I can’t wait to retire. I mean, technically, I’ll HAVE to wait, since it’s about 40 years away. Unless I strike it rich! So yeah, 40 years.

Good technical point there, Ben. Since you woke up, the second nap is not still the first nap… ☺
