All day long we get bombarded with tv commercials for gambling. Our community will have a casino in a couple years as will our state. Oh joy, just what we need is a cash sucking facility. We have a 4 lane by pass this year that goes 30 miles but by god we will have in our town a horse track and casino. Snake eyes
I believe that the unbridled betting is also the root cause of the increase in threats (both online and live) to athletes and their families. If a sport or person is being heavily bet on albeit phantasy league or the real thing, and someone gets hurt, underperforms or otherwise makes a mistake, there’s hell to pay from the losing bettor. It also correlates with an increase in spousal violence after one’s team loses or doesn’t cover a spread. Someone’s gonna get hurt
