This one must have depended upon readers knowing the price of the average paper at the time. If they didn’t, they might not have seen the strip anyway…
Fifty cents in 1971 would be over $3.25 today.And given the horrible economic news lately, it does feel like I’m living through the 70s again!

Half a buck for a paper is cheap now. Our local rag goes for $2.00 for the daily and $3.00 for Sunday.
