I have learned more history as an adult than ever in school. It was always dates dates and more dates and nothing of interest. It turns out history is fascinating when you actually read about the actual events and accomplishments. One example, the Normans were North Men or Vikings that immigrated to the region and then conquered England. All I know from school is 1066!!

So you tell your kid that you were proficient with history in high school and he replies “Sure, but there was a lot LESS of it then”.

Those that forget history are condemned to repeat it. And there’s not a left-wing socialist/marxist out there who knows any history.

A good starter book is Kenneth C Davis’s “DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT HISTORY”. , also his books on geography, presidents, mythology, and more!

That’s why you need to pay attention and take notes in class and then go over them when studying for the test. In my World History class we were able to use the notes we took when taking our rest that was 56 yrs ago!

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” – George Santayana

He appears to be able to remember a joke that was written before he was born.
