I just read the 1/3 of the workforce change their jobs yearly. This is a claim by some author so he might just want to sell his book. His advice is contradictory. He says don’t follow your passion but do what you like to do!(?) Huh? I stopped reading because it made no sense to me. I liked all my jobs. I just hated upper management who wanted miracles. And even when you pulled one off, they weren’t happy! One manager would keep the project on his desk for 3 MONTHS then tell you to get it down in 3 days!! Arrrgh!!

Always refresh your resume and send it out at six months intervals. Even if you get no responses, you get a more realistic idea of what your services are worth.

I once got a better job by trading a small raise for an “Associate Engineer” title. In three months, I had a real engineering job.
