Ah! Ginge, has this hit home, and I don’t mean just on old Canehard’s head. Did you leave that apple on his desk as a sweetener or did the popular kid in class put it there and go off home, leaving you to do lines in a lonely, silent room. Be thankful you didn’t get sent to the Principal’s office over this little effort.

Now what’s up with the mouse on the cricket wicket?

Also, Ginger (which I find odd to be a boy’s name) should’ve thought of something else to hit the teacher with than a circket ball. I know they’re hard, but something more deadly. Like –oh, I don’t know– a hive of bees, wasps or hornets.

The ‘mouse’ is his monkey, Tony. Ginger’s a boys name as well. Just like Tony/Toni.

Isn’t “Ginger” a description of his hair color? I named my dog Ginger because of the color of her coat, not because it was a boy or girl name. It’s like “Reds”.

He was named Ginger in 1921 before colour printing was around.
