Life happens and plans change. Most changes are not planned or under your control. You have to adapt and keep moving forward.

I understand the “Don’t Blow It”, just need something more specific.
Just don’t do the wrong thing. What’s the right thing? No idea. Just don’t do the wrong thing.

Somewhat poor choice of words. Wherewithal generally refers to financial resources, which they generally lack. So no, you can control your destiny; you can only discover it.
The more Jimmy draws, the more it reminds me of Crockett Johnson’s drawing—Mary Lou in that last panel, side view especially.
