I think these are two different situations. The son wants his homework, which is important to his education and future. The daughter wanted a time-wasting toy. I think Mom’s snarky comment was uncalled for.

I had a friend who always did this for her daughter. Just about every day “Nay Nay” (Renée) forgot something, her homework, her lunch, whatever and her mom had to make a special trip to the school to bring it to her.
