On one long trip I pulled over at a rest stop and taught my daughters all about DIRT. Distance Is Rate X Time. We have so far to go and are going at this speed. “We started at this time of day and I forecast a certain amount of time for stops for food, gas and bathroom breaks.” “Now you have another Superpower, you can figure this out with the information you get when we start.” And from then on, with a few practice runs, they could tell me when they expected to get there. YMMV.
