Nobel prize winner are the worst. I’ve known three of them and all three have lectured on topics about a far from their field of interest as you can imagine.
Worse are the MDs… doctors assume that they know a lot about other professions to give their input and opinions.
A medical director with her MD from a prestigious medical school (instead of the garden variety local school) presumed to advise and “direct” my department in a clinic. She was informed to stick with medicine and leave Information Technology to the professionals. ;-)
The correct reply to someone who states, “I ought to know what I’m talking about”, Is to agree with them with emphasis on “ought”. “I agree, you ought to know what you’re talking about”
