Academy awards have become meaningless to the general public. The most highly acclaimed movie nominated has made $208,037, so the average man/woman really could care less. What’s really interesting is Rotten Tomatoes, I looked at their audience reviews today and it was page after page of 1 and 2 star reviews, with some 4 or 5 star reviews. Yet they give the move an audience score of 79%, but if you look closely it says “Fewer than 50 Verified Ratings”. Sorry that is just fudging the numbers to make a art film look good. I used to trust RTs but now I am definitely not.

Curious, are winners of an Olympic Gold medal allowed to sell their award?

An academy award is given, supposedly it’s yours- however the academy does want it returned if you are considering selling it

Not sure if all academy award winners are flush with cash…If one of the winners by some unfortunate event is forced to sell Oscar because they may need the dough will the academy or some wealthy member offer some sort of renumeration ?
