What Will did was wrong. He should not have slapped Chris. However, where is the outcry against Chris’s comment? He publicly humiliated a person with a disability. Is it OK because she is an actor’s wife. What would we be saying about Chris’s joke if it had been making fun of someone with a different disability, such as having cancer, being a paraplegic, deaf, blind, etc. Making fun of one’s disability is never OK either. IMHO
the idea that guys aren’t allowed to fight anymore is just one more goofy aspect of our so so sophisticated modern world. if you insult my wife, i’m going to punch your lights out, no stopping to consider whether it’s “appropriate.” that said, smacking the presenter on nationwide live tv and shouting profanities was probably not the smartest approach – he should’ve waited ’til after the show to kick his sorry a$$ from here to kingdom come…
What Will Smith should have done is wait for an appropriate time to face Chris Rock man to man instead of acting like the coward he showed himself to be.
