I have seen a couple times where pet adoption folks will walk around the terminal (after you go through the security screening) with a few pups. I don’t know if anyone is looking to adopt when they are waiting to board a plane or if it’s just providing some PR and a calming mechanism for nervous fliers.

A cute beagle sniffed my bags at the airport once. Turns out beagles are used to sniff out food contraband.

I get the most excited about seeing dogs (and cats) at an airport, because they usually carry much more sense than people do.
