One of my cats is a very particular eater. Even though I have bought special feeding bowls (the ones that look a bit like a horse’s hoof) with one side lower for easy access, she considers any food of the far side of the bowl to be inedible. She will come meowing to me so that I will push the food to the near side for her.
My other cat, when that happens, just walks around to the other side of the bowl and eats over the higher lip. Cats!
Cats don’t like to push their whiskers into the sides of the bowl to get food off the edges. It’s uncomfortable. The fix is easy: put your cat’s food in a shallower, wider bowl.

A bowl without kibble is like the Enterprise full of tribbles.

I just shake the bowl to make it smooth again.
