I’ve been told that if rhubarb is grown in almost total darkness, it’ll grow so quickly to try and approach a faint light that you can actually hear it grow.
I spent a weekend digging out some bamboo planted by the previous owners; finishing after dark on Sunday evening. In the morning, before going to work, I went and looked at my handiwork. A single sprout had appeared, about 3 inches tall. How could I have missed that – maybe just tired and it was dark? When I got home in the evening, that sprout was over three feet tall.
