That was the most unusual rude reply I have heard for not assisting someone. The proper answer should be “Sorry, no.” But then he doesn’t look like a polite man.
For what I have heard, people on the street in NYC will be glad to give you directions. The problem is that about half the time, they will give you totally bogus ones just to send you in the wrong direction…
