When my cousin’s baby was still little enough to fit, my cousin bathed him in the sink, but he was terrified that he would be sucked down the drain along with the water, so she always had to lift him out before she pulled the plug. It seemed nonsensical to us adults, but it made perfect sense to him—all that water, enough to completely fill the sink and surround him, somehow disappearing down that little hole! What was stopping him from suffering the same fate? Of course, eventually experience showed him the essential differences between solid and liquid matter, but in his babyhood the world was still new and mostly incomprehensible.

I never had a bathtub monster. I feel so deprived. He is kinda cute when he smiles.

Reminds me of when Jaws was released; one friend said she was afraid to take a bath for months.
