If you need an ambulance, you’ll have to pay for it, unless you have health insurance that will cover it. If your house catches fire, how much do you have to pay the fire dept. if you don’t have fire insurance? If you get burglarized, how much do you have to pay the police if you don’t have theft insurance?

I once had an “unusual” experience with an Ambulance Company. After transporting me to the Emergency Room, I’m lying there in discomfort, waiting for treatment, when one of the Ambulance personnel approaches me and asks for a $600 payment for the ride. That’s the only time that ever happened.

Volunteer fire companies depend on donations. If the wrong company is called they get fined if they fight fire over the line of their district. So they have to wait until the correct one arrives then they can help.

Ruthie’s comment is all too real-life, as my daughter can testify.
