It might not be fair, but I think it wise to give more feeding attention to giant sea monsters that are big enough to turn upside down your ship if they get mad!

Dang, wish I had thought of a multi-armed costume when I was a kid.

Look out, now, Chip, or you’re going to encourage kids to bring two bags, one for each hand.

Re the Seuss family books removal: Had a busy day yesterday. Currently; we over at Gasoline Alley are reading strips from 1920s on, provided by some members who downloaded strips from newspaper website archives. We get stories with Rachel, the black maid, on Twitter and you have to click to view what might be considered sensitive content. Middle 1970s, as a service man, I worked under an ex Marine civilian black man from Miss’ippi. He was a lot of fun even when he got on our young a$$es case because, as you may know, young people can be ‘full of it’. Jake had the kind of speech that hearkens back to poor black folk from the deep south. We had fun with that man, he was real personable, not like bosses who are all business and stiff.

I suspect the Seuss family, in part, wanted to head off the kind of vitriol that is heaped on an ex president and his ilk.

I remember our grade school librarian reading to our class, The Little Black Sambo story, by Helen Bannerman. He is actually an Indian boy despite the title inferring a black person. I felt it was harmless but had seen somewhere written that it too is a ‘bad thing’. I may be wrong, memory and all that. Just because we enjoy stories of a questionable nature does not make us all bed sheet wearing racial terrorists. I find those who subscribe to extremes of Left and Right as detestable types. Humor is a dying art form in this country. :-(
