One of my co-workers switched to the graveyard shift and brought his coffee maker with him. He said the coffee helped him stay awake. I happened to see what coffee he was using and it was decaf.
“Decaf” is still coffee and some may have up to 10% the caffeine of regular coffee, based on consumer group lab testing.
During times of shortages, people drank chicory as a coffee substitute. You will have some idea of how suitable that was when you look on the shelves today for chicory. :)
