I tried this. I live 3 miles from work, have a multi-use trail practically connecting my neighborhood and work, but getting to work tired and sweaty was sub-optimal (and I manage an un airconditioned warehouse and am on my feet all day). Wasn’t worth it. I only put gas in my fuel efficient vehicles once a month anyway!
Same problem I had when I took a job in an office building near a park. I tried taking walks at lunchtime, for exercise and to clear my mind, but quickly realized that I shouldn’t do that when the weather was hot.

Get either an electric bike or one of those electric scooters.

If you’re going to ride to work in all weathers, you need to keep stuff there – at least, a change of clothes, washcloths, deodorant and towels.
