I clearly remember the first time my little dog saw snow. He was already fully grown. It had snowed a true blizzard overnight, and we were heading out for a walk. He stopped short when we got outside and saw that at least two feet of snow had fallen. He stood and stared at the snow, then he turned and looked at me. He looked again at the snow, then looked again at me. You could see the wheels turning: “Do you see this? What is it? There was nothing about this in the brochure.” I told him to go ahead, so he stepped off the porch and immediately sank totally beneath the snow. A little movement under the snow, and little rustling, and a small, black furry head popped up. I swear that dog was smiling from ear to ear. He loved it! He went leaping through the snow, poking his head around and presumably sniffing at each landing spot. After that, and until he was old and infirm, he never hesitated to venture out.

A big day for a dog. Adding another axis to the sniffing routine. Finding and marking stuff that will rot really well when Spring springs.
