That Americans have never accepted dollar coins is stupid, as is the continued existence of pennies. The lowest denomination coin ever issued by the U.S. Government was the half-penny, and a 1793 half-penny was the equivalent of about 15 cents today (a 1793 dollar was the equivalent of about thirty 2023 dollars).
Round everything to the nearest nickel (heck, as far as Iâm concerned you can round to the nearest quarter, eliminate the $1 bill, and flood the system with $1 and $2 coinsâŠ

I so rarely have coins anymore. Once it was because I kept filling the change jar; now its because everything is plastic or digital.
