I’m that kind of carpenter, I proclaim I’ve antiqued it to give it an Amish warmth.

I try very hard not to purchase things made in China, it’s hard to do because of price, but that being said, stuff from China isn’t quality merchandise, lucky if it last a year. You get what you pay for.

I’m just imagining a horde of blood thirsty muppets thundering across the plains led by the mighty Kermit Khan, with Miss Piggy in Valkyrie armour,, and The Swedish Chef brandishing his deadly spoons.

The reason is much of the stuff from China is not “quality” is because American want to buy low cost aka cheap items. Consumers want to buy $20 toasters, if a toasters retails for $20 that is after 2/3 mark-ups and shipping, so original manufacturing cost likely is < $8. At that price it will be low quality no matter where it is manufactured. 25 years ago Walmart was selling American made toasters say for $50 and making $10 profit, there is reason they sell Chinese toasters for $20 and make $4 profit-customers stopped buying the $50 toaster. An American made toaster in 1960 cost $20-($200 2023$) -10 hours of average wage.

I always had to watch for Muppets when I was driving home on my country road. They’re crafty things.
