    Well, yes and no. Yes, no one wants to give up power. Understandable, but more to the point no one is willing to even compromise anymore. This is an end result of Gingrich turning politics into a manichean contest between good and evil (Dems being the evil). Add to that the attitude of not one step back, well welcome to the hellscape.

    Read a great rant on line from fast food employees who try to help customers save money by telling them that burgers are cheeseburgers without the cheese and cost less. They finally got tired of being yelled at for varying reasons by oblivious customers, shrugged, and placed the order as given: cheeseburger, hold the cheese. They call the charge for the non-existent cheese a Stupid Tax. There’s lots more, like the customers who believe the hamburgers are made with ham, but need I say more?

    There’s a Greek myth like that. I forget the surrounding details, but it came down to a magic hound (which always caught its prey) chasing a magic hare (which always evaded its predator). Before a horrible paradox could devour the universe, Zeus turned both of them into constellations.

    So, did the hare win anyway?
