My only experience with a pay toilet: My son was about 8 months old. Momma was in class while boy and I played in the park. Time came to change the little one. I had him, a huge diaper bag, some of moms shopping and a stroller. Toilets at the bottom of stairs. A large common area where the attendant was busy with 5 or 6 women. I just worked my way into the men’s room, changed the boy, tried to get everything back into manageable order then back outside. The attendant was finished with whatever she had been doing. When I tried to pay on the way out, she just said “ Thank You! You do not need to! Father takes care of child always good!”
When in France,we visited The Sacré-Coeur Cathedral on Butte Montmarte. The public bathrooms were down a huge flight of stairs,at the bottom of the church, outside. I found out they were uni bathrooms.. The doors were down to the ground but men and women were in and out, like it was nothing! Talk about being uncomfortable, OY! and how different countries vary on this subject.

I think pay toilets were invented by the huns. Diabolical.
