Oh that is so my Gram….the good China, silver, and linens for company and the cheap dinnerware for everyday. If we had had two parlors instead of one small living room, one of those would have been reserved for company too. Nowadays all entertaining is “casual” and not even bridal wish lists have fine China and real silver anymore. I have my Mom’s set of sterling silver flatware. It sits in it own special box in a drawer in the buffet and is never used (can’t be shoved in the dishwasher, must be hand washed and carefully dried too.)
Cloth napkins are so much easier, anyway—they stay on the lap, they can be used at the next meal (just pop them in napkin rings), they actually don’t wilt when used to blot your mouth, and they are far handsomer. Then just throw them in the wash: far less expensive than flimsy paper! Go, Amanda! And step on up, your honor—it’s what everyday cloth napkins are for. You have a good wife . .
Aiming high brother? They must be really nice napkins! I use paper towels and then reuse them to wipe food from my dishes and utensils for the organic waste.. and not the drain. ;p

My grandmother said. if you have it, use it. And we did. Food really does taste better on china and eaten with silver.

We’ve had to dip into Christmas napkins before. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
