she used word spendthrift wrong. Spendthrift means someone who spends wisely – she was trying to go for another word that meant a person who is trying to save money. spendthrift is the opposite of pennypinching, cost conscious, or prudent or budget minded.

Good start, unless Cathy tries to economize by checking out the thrift stores (The Retro-Rage Recycler?) Then instead of spending all her money on new clothes, our gal will spend all her money on old clothes.

Adding: Interesting, in the Spanish version of today’s Cathy, the translator didn’t follow the ‘spendthrift’ slipup - ‘La Guia de Safari Frugal’ is used, getting it right.
