In this case Cathy should listen to mom. This is a much more frugal way of living and I like it!

I had brick around our fireplace covered with soot from the woodburning previous owner, so I filled an enviro-steamer with vinegar and shot the brick with steamed vinegar and it came clean. No spray on chemical product I tried made a dent.
