I’m amazed by how much the pandemic changed our culture. I live in the SF Bay area. There’s almost a daily article about how the SF stores, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. are going out of business because so many people started working from home during the pandemic and never came back. Oakland and SF are almost bankrupt because of fewer taxes being collected as hotels and restaurants are closing.
Adam is like Drabble, his business alone can make or break the coffee shop like Drabble’s business alone keeps open the donut shop, ice cream shop, pizza shop, hamburger joints, and every other eating joint in town.
And the cream is curdled, and the nutmeg and cinnamon lost their flavor months ago. The staff has stayed in good form by composing new snarky takes on customer’s names or appearance. Oh, and all the points on your Frequent Caffeinator cards have expired.
Working from home is a mixed bag of feelings. It allows for more me time and getting chores and things done, but holy crap do I go stir crazy and get cabin fever easily now. I try to get out and do things but it isn’t the same. It doesn’t feel earned as much as needed which isn’t the same at all. Going out after a long day of work and going shopping or eating out was nice, now it’s just a demand to get out of the house and walk.

If Adam didn’t buy any coffee he’d start a great depression in the coffee industry.

You’d think that Andre would at least make wellness calls to Adam@Home, just in case, right?

Why didn’t they send employees to the front of Adam’s house with sandwich boards.
