Montreal 1940’s. Woolworth’s on Ste. Catherine Street sold the BEST jam doughnuts ever! My mother would always pick up a half dozen when she was shopping at Eaton’s or Morgan’s. Memories.
Reminds me of the story my mother used to tell about when my sister and I were little, and we needed to ‘fairly’ divide candy. I would always do the dividing: “one for you, one for me; one for you, two for me…”

Trust me it is for the best as donuts are no good for you as my late father all he would eat at the end was donuts.

Fair to me. However, you could just get one for the kids and let them split it…..

Au Contra ire….
A doughnut is great health food…..
If I eat one, the rancid grease is totally indigestible and lies in my gut for days…and the sugars ruin the taste of all other foods…..
Easy way to diet…
